Hallam striker Liam Royles scored twice

Champions-elect Hallam all but sealed the Division One title and their return to the NCEL top flight for the first time since 2011 after easing to a 4-0 victory over nine-man Worsbrough Bridge.

Craig Denton’s men can only be caught if they lose to Clipstone and Teversal and North Ferriby score over 40 goals in their final two games.

In front of over 800 fans, Hallam had to bide their time against Worsbrough as it was not until Steve Wankiewicz’s 35th minute goal that they took the lead.

A penalty from Liam Royles on the stroke of half-time put them in control.

Worsbrough’s Callum Walton saw red on the hour after giving the referee a piece of his mind.

A free kick from Royles increased the lead.

Jordan Kershaw’s red card for an elbow added to Worsbrough’s woes late-on before Richard Patterson claimed an injury-time goal.

FC Humber United have hope of survival going into Saturday’s crunch clash with Swallownest as they secured a late 5-2 win over Ollerton Town.

Jack Durkin (2), Red Bates, Brandon Burke and George Green scored.
