Hallam boss Craig Denton says assistants Rob Poulter (left), Wayne Thompson and James Humphreys deserve credit for his successes

Title-winning Hallam chief Craig Denton says he is honoured to join an exclusive club of managers who have won both NCEL Divisions.

Denton is now in the same ilk as Garforth Town boss Paul Marshall (Goole AFC and Tadcaster Albion), John Reed (Hatfield Main), Mick Horne (Stocksbridge Park Steels) plus Daniel Barrett who has achieved the same feat this season with Grimsby Borough.

Denton is proud but feels his loyal assistants deserve as much credit as they have been at his side during the triumphs at Hallam and Worksop Town.

“It is terrific and I feel honoured to be around the likes of the Garforth manager Paul Marshall who has done fantastic stuff in the game,” Denton told Non League Yorkshire.

“It highlights not just me.

“I’ve had Rob Poulter by my side along with Wayne Thompson and James Humphreys (at Hallam and Worksop).

“I go down as manager but it takes a lot of the hard work to achieve those two promotions from the Northern Counties Leagues and everyone plays a part.”

Hallam all but clinched the Division One title on Tuesday night due to the far superior goals difference.

The South Yorkshire side are set to lift the trophy after the game with Clipstone at Sandygate tomorrow.

Both Hallam and Grimsby’s achievements mean that you have to go back to 2018 to find an NCEL league title won by a manager other than Barrett or Denton.
