Harrogate Railway will face North Ferriby next week in the play-off final after Joe Crosby’s double defeated hosts Brigg Town.

Railway had to survive a huge storm in the closing stages as Brigg tried to force extra-time but Mick O’Connell’s underdogs held their nerve.

Railway struck early in the first half and then again ten minutes before half-time.

Crosby went through on goal for the deadlock breaker.

The second came after Railway mounted a lot of pressure on Brigg before Crosby had enough space to bury the ball in the back of the net.

Veteran Nathan Peat headed Brigg back into the semi-final on the hour and that ensued a very nervous finale as the hosts threw the proverbial kitchen sink.

You name it; Railway survived goal-line scrambles, efforts off the woodwork and numerous shoots.

But they held on and one more win will return them to the top flight of the NCEL.

The Team

Harrogate Railway: Wilton, Hardcastle, McDaid (captain), Thirkell, Morris, Holmes, Crosby, Ibrahimi, Day, Shepherd, Greenway. Subs: Davies, Robertson, Shaw, Youhill.
