Frickley finish in the bottom two, but fate is unclear

NPL Division One East Round-Up (1)

Frickley Athletic have finished in the bottom two following the 2-2 fight-back draw at Shildon, but their fate is unclear due to Yorkshire Amateur’s expulsion.

The Ammers were booted out of the NPL on Friday after losing an appeal against their demotion for failing to meet ground grading requirements.

Until the league confirm where Ammers’ exit leaves the league standings, Frickley are down.

If luck is shining on Frickley and they are classed as the third-bottom side, Dave Frecklington’s men will get a final chance to avoid relegation in a play-off clash with a second-placed Step 5 side.

With results going against them, even if Frickley had won at Shildon, it would have made no difference to the table.

Frickley were two goals down after 66 minutes.

That’s when they mounted a comeback.

Devonte Morton grabbed one back before Josh Scott equalised with six minutes to go.

Sheffield FC currently occupy the third bottom position and are anxiously waiting to learn their fate.

Ryan Cresswell’s side did all they could by winning 2-1 at Pontefract Collieries.

Josh Burns’s opener was cancelled out by Colls star Mikey Dunn on the hour.

Rory Coleman hit the winner.

Pickering Town, who have been deducted six points, bowed out of the NPL with the 3-1 defeat at Lincoln United.

Wayne Brooksby broke the deadlock.

Yorkshire Amateur star Casey Stewart

Yorkshire Amateur put disappointment to one side by finishing on a high note thanks to the 3-0 win at Tadcaster Albion.

Ste Crawford, Casey Stewart and Junayd Cassius-Gill scored for the Ammers.
