Promotion-winning York City goalkeeper Pete Jameson has moved to a Football League club.

Jameson has signed for Simon Weaver’s League Two side Harrogate Town.

The clubman of the year originally joined York from Blyth Spartans in 2019 and has been a popular figure at the LNER Stadium.

In a statement, Jameson said: “I write this message with a heavy heart that my time at York City has come to an end. This was not an easy decision on my behalf but the opportunity to go into the Football League has always been an ambition of mine and one I could not turn down.

”I can’t thank the amazing fans, players and staff enough – I have made friends for a lifetime and memories that I will never forget.

“The Playoff Final win was the highlight of my York City career. What an amazing day and I’m so glad and proud that I was part of it. I wish you all the very best! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
