Handsworth celebrate Sam Finlaw’s ‘worldie’

Handsworth staged a second half fight-back to kick off their pre-season schedule with a victory over Chesterfield under 21s.

Handsworth’s squad contained a variety of old and new faces and two of the familiar names caused problems for the visitors in the first half.

Leon Howarth was a nuisance while Mitch Dunne went close with a chance.

Chesterfield’s close range opener came against the run of play in the early exchanges.

The second half introduction of Jack Harrison provoked the Ambers into coming to life.

Handsworth began to be more forceful going forward.

The equaliser came midway through the second half and it was one to remember as new midfielder Sam Finlaw managed to lob the young Chesterfield goalkeeper from 37 yards.

With the visitors fading, Handsworth began to take control and young Noah Flint prodded home from close range to hand his side the lead.

Striker Sam Smith sealed the win in the last minute after fancy footwork opened up the chance and he coolly slid the ball under the goalkeeper.
