Toolstation NCEL Premier Division
Although happy with his recruitment so far, Albion Sports manager Riz Mohammed says it has been hard enticing players.
Mohammed puts that down to a competitive market due to the influx of teams into the Premier Division with similar geographical locations.
“It has been difficult,” Mohammed told Non League Yorkshire.
“I would say the league has become more local.
“Yorkshire Amateur have come down, Frickley have come down and Golcar have moved across.
“The pool of players I’m connected and the finances, it has become difficult.
“I’ve had players leave as well so it has been challenging.
“We played quite a few trialists at Campion on Friday and it is a journey and the players we have brought in have done well.
“In terms of the confirmed signings we have brought in experience like Charlie Flaherty.
“George McMahon is a brilliant signing for us and we know we have a top class goalkeeper.
“We have lost the likes of Mohammed Qasim, Kieran Suddards, Marcus Harper, Ryan Basi so some of the core players have left.
“But the players we have brought in have already set the tempo.”
Tabish Hussain, Aran Basi and Robbie Fox kicked off the squad announcements at Albion.
McMahon, Tom Ponter, Kam Basi, Flaherty, Ryan Clay, Mattias Britton, Mohammed Kabba and Scott Lightower havs since signed on.
Mohammed says the hunt for further bodies is still on.
“There’s still people we are speaking to and I think if we’re able to get them over-the-line we’ll secure what target this season,” he added.
“It is looking promising.”
