North Gawber manager Scott Chipchase says he is excited about what the strike partnership of Kai Hancock and Carey Welford could produce this season.
Welford has worked hard to get firing on all cylinders while Hancock, who has joined Gawber from Dodworth Miners Welfare, has been scoring in pre-season.
“They are going to be the difference this year,” Chipchase told Non League Yorkshire.
“Carey has lost a lot of weight which I’m sure he’ll be over the moon about me saying.
“He has benefited from it and he is probably the player he was three-or-four years ago.
“He’s holding the ball up well and it is starting to show.
“Carey and Kai have played two full games together and it is already starting to show what they are capable of and we’re excited.
“I know a lot of people who have been watching in pre-season have been saying the same things.
“Carey always aims for his 20 goals and I think with the way he is playing it is more than achievable.
“Kai, well the sky is the limit.
“You know what he is like, he’s going to get a lot of goals for us.
“With the way he has started for us, once he gets fitter he’ll be flying.
“He’s added a completely new side to our game.”
