Steve Adams insists that Parkgate can pull off a shock result against Toolstation NCEL Premier Division promotion hopefuls Heanor Town.
Parkgate will welcome Heanor to Roundwood tomorrow, four days after ending a run of three straight league defeats in the 2-2 draw at Nostell Miners Welfare.
Adams told Non League Yorkshire: “It is going to be difficult because Heanor are a good side.
“If you take away budgets and payments, they are still a good side.
“They are a good footballing side, they like to put you under pressure. They play some good stuff so it is going to be a really tough game.
“We have stopped the rot and got something from Nostell so hopefully we have can a bit more tomorrow.
“We have to be realistic and say Heanor are going to be massive favourites. Even so, we have to go in positive and believe we can something from the game.
“We have played teams before at our place who have been near the top of the league.
“I go back to Brighouse last year, who got promotion, and we beat them 3-0 at our place when nobody expected us to.
“There is always hope and we’ll be going into it fairly confident.”
Parkgate are 16th after 13 games and Adams admits that his job is a difficult one.
“The season could be better, we know that,” he said.
“It is always tough when teams are paying heavy money out.
“We don’t pay the players so we rely on players who have been playing local football.
“It’s extremely difficult to attract players because teams are offering silly money to players.
“You go look at players and think you have a chance of getting them, but they go elsewhere for a few quid.
“It’s difficult at the moment. It has been the norm for a few years now since I have been involved in the Northern Counties.
“If you have no budget at all, it’s really difficult because you have to get a good structure.
“We have a reserve team and it is their first season and we’re hoping it produces a few younger players.
“Realistically the aims are to stay in the league and bring one or two of the younger players through.”
