Sheffield Senior Cup
Nostell Miners Welfare won 5-4 on penalties after an epic 3-3 draw at Worsbrough Bridge.
Jamie Allsop smashed in the winning penalty to bring a close to a game which had seen Nostell surrender a two-goal lead.
Tawheed Ahmed’s double gave Nostell a strong position until Conor Glavin’s penalty on the stroke of half-time reduced the deficit.
Mike Jepps equalised on the hour.
Joe Wood quickly restored the lead and Nostell led again until the final eight minutes when Harley Holt scored the goal to take the game to penalties.
There was also late drama as Nostell goalkeeper Rhys Westcarr was sin-binned, forcing Nathan Hawkhead to go in goal prior to the stopper’s return just before the final whistle.
Even the penalty shootout had controversy as two Nostell penalties were saved – only to be retaken as the assistant referee claimed the Worsbrough stopper had come off his line too early.
West Riding County Cup
Albion Sports knocked out a FC Halifax Town X1 on penalties after a 2-2 stalemate.
Albion won 5-4 in the shootout.
Hass Gorji and Zak Khan scored for Albion during normal time.
