Mitch Cook has left Pickering Town after just a year in charge following the club’s 2-1 defeat at Parkgate on Tuesday night.

Cook, who also managed Pickering during the 2010-11 season, was handed a second stint in the job last year after Jimmy Reid was sacked.

Hopes were high for this season under former Bridlington boss Cook, but Pickering’s form has been indifferent.

Although they are sitting in mid-table, Town have won just five games in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division games this season and they exited the FA competitions at the first hurdles.

In their last six league games, Pickering has won just once which has led to another change in direction at Mill Lane.

A statement said: “The club would like to thank Mitch for his contribution to the club both on and off the field and wish him well for the future.

“Applications for the post of manager should be made to the chairman, 3 Eastbeck Close, Sherburn, Malton, YO17 8PU in writing or by e-mail usherso8@btinternet.com. Closing date is 20th November 2014.”
