Hemsworth Miners Welfare have re-signed one of their most popular players.

Central midfielder Lee Swift has returned to Fitzwilliam after 18 months away.

Swift had always been associated with Hemsworth from their point of entry into the Toolstation Northern Counties East League in 2008 until his departure in the summer of 2013.

He chose to join the oncoming storm Shaw Lane Aquaforce, under then manager Simon Houghton.

Swift played a key role as Shaw Lane won promotion after Craig Elliott guided them over the finish line before moving onto Pontefract Collieries in July.

He has been a bit-part player in promotion-chasers Pontefract’s season and has moved back to his ‘home’ club.

Another member of Shaw Lane’s promotion-winning squad has changed team today as well.

Left-back Chris Fawcus, whose place has been taken by Luke O’Brien, has left Shaw Lane and signed for Clipstone.
