Craig Elliott admits Shaw Lane Aquaforce need their Toolstation NCEL Premier Division clash with Liversedge to go-ahead tomorrow night.
Aquaforce’s glorious FA Vase run alongside a long list of postponements have created a fixture pile-up as they attempt to win the league title. They are currently eight points behind leaders Tadcaster with four games in hand.
Shaw Lane have only played ten league games at home this season and Elliott said: “I want to try and get the game on.
“The Rugby were at home on Saturday so I’m not sure what state it is in, but we need it on because these games in hand are important.
“We have struggled all season to get within touching distance of the leading teams so it would be nice to get a few games on.
“When games have been postponed, it has been difficult to retain a rhythm, especially at home.
“A lot of these games getting called off are home matches and most teams pride themselves on being able to win their home matches and we can’t our ground a fortress because we haven’t had enough games.
“Time will tell whether we are a good home team because it is hard to judge at the minute.”
If the game does go ahead, Chris White is expected to be involved after making his Shaw Lane debut in the 3-1 win over Nostell on Saturday.
On the signing of White, the Shaw Lane manager said: “As people know I like to play with wingers and width and he is somebody I tried to get in the summer.
“He went to Stocksbridge, but he came available. He is an experienced player and I was pushed to sign because of Ferdy (Fernando Moke) getting sent off last week (on his debut at Armthorpe).
“I wanted to make sure we had a winger coming in for the Vase game (with Glossop on Saturday).”
