Andy Geary has stepped down as the manager of Silsden to allow his assistant Ryan Haigh to take full control.

Geary is credited as one of the main people behind the rise of Silsden. Geary was manager during the rebuilding of the club in the 1990s and took them into the North West Counties Premier Division.

He returned for a second stint in January 2013 and he leaves them in mid-table.

His departure has not come as a surprise as since the New Year, Geary has struggled to manage the team because of work and family commitments.

Haigh, who was a member of the Harrogate Railway team which got to the second round of the FA Cup in 2007, takes charge of his first official match at Colne tomorrow night.

Chris Price is his assistant.
