Northern Counties East League promotion chasers Hull United have brought another former Hull City player out of retirement in striker Lawrie Dudfield.
Dudfield joins former Tigers Curtis Woodhouse, Ian Ashbee and Mark Greaves, as the Citizens continue to add some famous faces to their squad to boost their support for their imminent promotion to the NCEL.
Dudfield last played football in 2011 for Boston, and even had a spell as manager of Quorn, but tonight announced he will pull on his boots again.
The 34 year-old became Hull City’s record signing in 2001 from Leicester for £250,000, and quickly became a fan favourite among the Tigers faithful scoring 17 goals in 39 games during his two season stay with the club.
His new side currently lie 4th in the Humber Premier League, a game in hand and four points behind league leaders Crown FC. The Citizens could go top if they beat 2nd place Sculcoates Amateurs and Crown in their next two games.
Curtis Woodhouse’s men need just a 5th placed finish to reach the NCEL next season and the addition of Dudfield will no doubt assist in attracting another bumper crowd to Dene Park.
