Billy Miller is the new name on the manager’s office door at Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Tadcaster Albion.
The appointment ends a 13-day search for long-serving manager Paul Marshall’s replacement at i2i Sports Stadium.
The Harrogate Railway boss accepted the position today (Wednesday), ending his three-year stint at the helm of the Evo Stik Division One North club.
“I think the ambitions of Tadcaster meets my own ambitions and that was clear from the start when talking to (i2i Sports owners) Matt and Jimmy Gore and Kent (Mayall),” Miller told Non League Yorkshire.
“It is a fresh challenge and a good chance to have a crack at the league and FA Vase.
“Paul Marshall has left phenomenal foundations to build on and it is the club is going places.
“On the flip side, Railway had become a big part of my life and it has been a brilliant three years. I leave a lot of great friends.
“I would like to think that the club is in a better position now compared to how I found it.”
Miller took charge of Railway for the final time on Sunday in a charity match against a York City X1.
He leaves Harrogate after lifting the club from the bottom of the Evo Stik Division One North and turning them into play-offs contenders inside just three years.
Their eighth-placed finish was also a club record and Railway chairman Nigel Corner believes he has made an indelible mark at Station View.
“Billy has worked wonders with Harrogate Railway,” Mr Corner said.
“When you think about when he first came in we had just had a reprieve from being relegated out of the league.
“We have now had three years of being competitive with a strong squad at this level.
“You look at our record this season against the top six and with the exception of Darlington, none of them beat us.
“He has done a wonderful job and he has earned his chance (at Tadcaster) and we wish him all the best and thank him for what he has done.
“I wasn’t surprised Tadcaster were interested, I was expecting it.
“You don’t get what Billy has achieved without teams casting glances your way. He was going to become a target for Tadcaster or somebody.
“We are gutted because he has done great things here.”
Asked where Miller ranks in the list of best ever Railway managers, Mr Corner added: “It is a hard question for me to answer because I don’t know the other managers as well as I know Billy, but he has to be right up there because we have just had a record-breaking season.”
Miller’s record as Railway manager finishes at: games played, 144, won 51, drawn 26 and lost 67.
Railway are expected to release a statement shortly as they prepare for life without Miller.
