Preparations for the 2014-15 Toolstation NCEL Premier Division campaign are already beginning for Garforth Town, according to head coach Graham Nicholas.
Garforth cannot get relegated or earn promotion and are safely ensconced in a mid-table battle in 13th place. Garforth are also five points off reaching their target of a top ten finish.
The Miners will aim to break into that position, but Nicholas says the priority for the final 15 games is building a side for next season.
“For me, the rest of the season is about putting plans in place for next year and giving the players a chance to impress.
“I’ll be looking at attitude, discipline and who’s going to commit to Garforth and put the club first? Who’s going to show the consistency of turning up for training on a weekly basis?
“At the end of the season I want to be able to say ‘yeah I’ve found the squad that will play us next season’.
“I want to finish in the top ten this season and that’s the aim.”
Garforth play Heanor Town back-to-back, the first game is at their opponent’s home ground.
Nicholas is likely to field a side similar to the one who played Armthorpe Welfare last week. He is without suspended striker Curtly Martin-Wyatt, but the Garforth chief is hopeful about landing some new faces.
“We have one or two injuries and we have the RIASA lads still back in America,” he said.
“I’m hopefully we will have one or two new players before the Heanor Town game tomorrow.
“Then hopefully we will everyone back for the Heanor game at home next week.”
