Nigel Corner has stepped down from his role as chairman of Harrogate Railway.
The shock announcement was made last night – only a month after popular manager Billy Miller’s departure to Tadcaster Albion.
Mr Corner was only elected to the role last year and leaves having overseen a record-breaking campaign at Station View.
Former Harrogate Town manager Alan Smith, who was Railway chairman before Mr Corner, will take over again in an acting capacity until an AGM is held.
Mr Corner said: “Harrogate Railway will always hold a special place in my heart, but unfortunately I feel the time is right to relinquish my role as chairman.
“I wish to thank the club and its members for giving me the opportunity and wish them every success in the future. I am looking forward to having a bit of a break and recharging my batteries whilst enjoying time with my young family.
“I will still get to Railway games as and when I can and will be fully supportive of the next chairman.”
