Ossett Albion comfortably won 4-0 at Toolstation NCEL Division One side Glasshoughton Welfare last night.

New Glasshoughton boss Mick Norbury’s first home game in charge at Leeds Road began well, but Ossett soon took control of proceedings.

Experienced forward duo Adam Muller and Rob Bordman gave Albion a comfortable first half lead before Gib Bojang stuck twice in the second half.

Norbury had over 20 players to choose from and for the openiing 10 minute welfare matched their lively opponents.. Steve Palfrey hit a shot high and wide for welfare and then Danny Corley’ chipped the keeper but the ball just cleared the bar.

Albion came back and welfare keeper Luke Herriott made a great block with his legs.

After 15 minutes Albion took the lead when they attacked down the right. The ball fell to former Guiseley and Farsley forward Muller who prodded the ball against a post and it the rebounded off Herriott into the net.

Five minutes later it was 2-0. Again Albion attacked down the their right and Boardman shot across Herriott into the bottom corner. It could have been 3 soon after when Danny Redearn fizzed a volley across goal.

Welfare should have pulled a goal back on 28 minutes when a left wing cross found Palfrey unmarked but his header flashed wide.

Albion increased the pressure and it took four great saves in as many minutes from Herriott to keep Welfare in the game.

Firstly he did well to smother a free kick low to his left. Boardman then hit a free kick which was pushed onto a post. Another volleyed shot was parried away and then a shot was brilliantly clawed over the bar.

Welfare opened the second half having made a number of changes. Colan Leung made a great tackle after 50 minutes to prevent Albion going further ahead. Josh Prudhoe shot over the bar for welfare as did Dell Pollock

On 68 minutes Albion went three up when Bogang produced a classy headed finish. Two minutes later Bojang got his second goal after poking the ball past Herriott.

Welfare had one further chance of a consolation goal when Phil Lindley drove forwards from his own half, but his squared pass saw Chris Kamara shoot over the bar.
