How Stocksbridge Park Steels will line-up this season will become more clear in the next week, according to Chris Hilton.

Richard Patterson is currently the only new face at Bracken Moor this summer as Hilton has retained almost everyone from last season’s team.

Hilton has a number of trialists on the books and he is hoping to confirm further signings soon.

“I’m hoping by next week that I will definitely have one player signed,” said Hilton, whose Evo Stik Division One South side lost 2-1 at Garforth Town on Saturday.

“We are talking to another two or three and hopefully we can conclude them before the Alfreton game (on Saturday).

“If not, it will be the week after, but that’s when we will definitely know.”

Hilton has already lost one summer signing – Luke Mangham – as his current job means he can only play the odd weekend matches.

Mangham asked to be de-registered at Stocksbridge and has since signed back at Garforth Town – but will play mainly in midweek.

Hilton added: “We have lost one signing because his work commitments have changed so he will be working a lot of Saturdays.

“That means he won’t be available so he decided that it would not be worth being signed on if he could only make midweek matches.

“There is a lot of travelling in our league, but he knew that before he came and then he switched jobs.

“There is not a lot we can do about it.”
