Ryan Hindley is aiming to continue his revolution at Hallam by turning them into Toolstation NCEL Division One heavyweights.
He believes they can be potential promotion candidates ahead of the curtain-raiser at Hall Road Rangers.
The Hallam chief has transformed a struggling club since his arrival last October and he now has high hopes for the Sandygate outfit.
Hindley told Non League Yorkshire: “We want to finish as high as we can.
“I think we’re a top eight team, but it is about where you finish.
“All the players we have brought in have strengthened us and have all played at a higher level so that signals our intent.
“I do think we look really strong in the final third and we have improved our back four.
“We have to build on last year because we finished really well and if we were able to secure a play-off place then I’d be delighted.
“That’s the aim, but it is going to be tough as the league is harder than it has ever been before.”
Hindley has retained the majority of the squad that pulled Hallam out of trouble and added ten players this summer.
He has full faith in his team and believes opponents could be scared of them this year.
“I believe this is the best Hallam team there has been in a long time,” he added.
“Hallam, in some of the years gone by, have been a side that you look at as six points and that will change this year.”
