Bradford (Park Avenue)’s wait for their first win on the Vanarama National League North is up to four games after the 2-1 defeat to AFC Fylde at Horsfall Stadium.
All three goals came in the first half with James Walshaw cancelling out Dion Charles’ deflected strike before an own goal from Jon Stewart turned out to be the winner.
The visitors took the lead thanks to Dion Charles’ deflected strike before James Walshaw grabbed his first for the club with a sensational strike.
Seb Carole was one of the Avenue players to fire a few long range efforts towards goal in the opening 10 minutes, but it was Fylde who took an early lead through their own strike from distance.
Charles turned on the corner of the box before his powerful shot found the bottom corner via a nick off an Avenue man.
Avenue came back into it close to half-time from a moment of magic from Walshaw. Tom Burgin’s clearing header skidded off the surface and flew into the sky off Walshaw’s chest. But, he managed to knock the ball down and turn before rifling into the top corner on the half volley.
However parity didn’t last for long as Fylde equalised just before half time. Adam Sumner put in a dangerous cross from a set piece which was met by the head of Danny Rowe. The ball bounced down off the crossbar and a stranded Stewart was unlucky, knocking the ball over the line before he knew where it was.
